Attendees are invited to visit the NLM exhibit booth #510 (May 14-17) to meet NLM staff and see NLM Web products and services. The NLM Theater at the booth will feature demonstrations and tutorials on a wide variety of topics.

The National Library of Medicine, the world’s largest medical library and a component of the National Institutes of Health, has a deep interest in the publishing models used by scientific journals, from the viewpoints of practical and efficient use of titles that are indexed for MEDLINE, and the clear and accurate preservation of the scientific literature for use by future generations. This notice presents an opportunity for others with a similar interest to participate in the development of a Recommended Practice that will provide guidance on the presentation and identification of electronic journals, an undertaking of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO). The Mobile School Health Information Initiatve (MoSHI) was funded by the MidContinental Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine from February 1, 2010 – February 28, 2011. Led by staff at the Becker Medical Library, Washington University School of Medicine, MoSHI was a train-the-trainer program to connect K-12 librarians in the St. Louis metropolitan area with credible health information. It’s great to see that ALA’s Office for Literacy and Outreach Services has taken up the banner of promoting health information for older adults at the public library. This recent article in OLOS Commons, written by Fatima Perkins of Cuyahoga County Public Library, in Parma, OH, discusses the multitude of resources available for seniors to find health information at the public library, including programs, books, databases, DVDs, and games.
