Women taking antidepressants who are thinking about getting pregnant might consider tapering or discontinuing drug therapy if they have experienced only mild or no symptoms for at least 6 months, depending on their psychiatric history, according to a new report released Aug. 21 on the treatment of depression during pregnancy.

September is National Preparedness Month. In preparation, this month’s Breezing Along with the RML will focus on Emergency Preparedness. Jim Honour will be reviewing the programming for emergency preparedness in the Midcontinental Region with his presentation: Pandemonium? : Programming the Prescription. He’ll point out some emergency planning programming this past year, including a meeting to explore partnering community based organizations with librarians and culminating with Dan Wilson and the MCR staff presenting the Ten Step Emergency Plan workshop at the Midcontinental Medical Library Association meeting in Breckenridge in the fall. In patients attending a general dermatology practice, most melanomas diagnosed during a 3-year period were not the presenting complaint, but were only discovered because a dermatologist performed a full-body skin examination, according to a report in the August issue of the Archives of Dermatology.
